Stylistically and symbolically, I have been drawing inspiration from 17th Century Dutch Still Life paintings, specifically Vanitas imagery. Losing my parents at a relatively young age has forced me to come to terms with the brevity and precious nature of life. Each of the objects in this piece represent my mother and father, their untimely passing, and our respective relationships.
